Housewife's Car Review: 2009 Acura CSX

Continuing with our luxury edition, today I will talk about the 2009 Acura CSX.
The Acura CSX is the youngest brother in the Acura family, which was created to replace Acura 1.7 EL. Actually, 1.7 was a great car, and I still see them on the road.  CSX stands for Compact Sportscar Experimental.  It’s a dark horse on a road. It looks exactly like the Honda Civic (ha, it’s called Honda Civic in the Japanese internal market), but it has a great Acura 2.0 L engine. Originally this model was designed specifically for the Canadian market. Not sure if I ever encountered it in other countries, but it is pretty common in our area. Even though Acura CSX was a bestseller for a few years, the model got discontinued in 2011 and was replaced with the ILX edition.

If you want a car on which you can easily beat those unpleasant people who can’t wait for the green light and move forward inch by inch on red, CSX is the car for you, because those smart people think the car beside them is Civic, though it’s not.  The car is excellent on acceleration, pretty sensitive on brakes and steering wheel, and makes driving comfortable.
Gas consumption is 6.5 to 9.5 L/100 km. As a standard package it includes leather seats with heating on front seats, sun roof, and a climate control.  Enough space in the car to fit 5 pairs of skis, three people, skiing boots, clothes, sleeping bags and other stuff. Confirmed!
Nevertheless, the heart of an Acura still sits in a Civic’s body. It has poor visibility on the sides like in a Civic, and it’s easy to miss a pedestrian or a cyclist while making a left turn.
Pros

  •        Great engine, nice city and suburb car
  •            Spacious for a small sedan, comfortable
  •        Good on gas
  •             Excellent for daily commute in a busy city and travels to cottage or skiing trips
  •             Included features like heated seats
Cons

  • Adopted Honda Civic exterior failures
  • Lights have to be turned on manually, no auto mode
  • In 2009 Honda screwed up the car painting, so starting from 2015 those cars could be identified by the peeled off top layer of paint
P.S. By some reason I do not have any photos of this car in my personal archive. I will try to find photos or add photo credits from other sources later.
